The Hammer & The Anvil:

Blacksmith
In a town with lots of farming like Roseboom, you need tools and equipment to get the job done. Instead of traveling to other cities for supplies, Roseboom’s very own Blacksmiths provided many tools, farming equipment, and objects for the community until the late 1950s.
Although people may not have visited the blacksmith every day, the ringing of the anvil could be heard across the town as people used their tools in their daily life. Several of the town’s blacksmiths immigrated from Europe and made their home in Roseboom like George Scott from Scotland in the late 1800s and Jerry Per from Slovenia who operated the last shop until 1957.

I woke up in the morning
to the sound of the blacksmith's hammer on the anvil.
It echoed through the community. We lived on the farm just outside of Roseboom...but the sound of that anvil echoed through
the valley in the summertime.
