Post Office at Bob's Country Store, 2019
Corner Store Delivery:
The Post Office
Mail brings people from nearby or far away together, especially in Roseboom. Since 1972, the post office has resided in the local general store on the corner of Routes 165 and 166, now Bob’s Country store, allowing residents to easily pick up or drop off their mail while driving through town or during a store run and running into familiar faces.
This wasn’t always the case, because before Roseboom’s (or Lodi at the time) post office was established in 1840, residents picked up their mail in Cherry Valley after getting notified in the local paper. Since the Roseboom post office’s establishment, it’s location moved around between barns, the postmaster’s house, and general stores but remained near its current location staffed by friendly faces and dedicated community members.
The postmistress at that time was Tom Weeks’ mother, Dolores Weeks. Dolores was wonderful and a joy.It was always a friendly time with Dolores Weeks
in the post office.
